A part-time (15-25 hours per week) driver is needed to support RAF’s program by driving RAF vehicles, picking up floral donations from floral partners (wholesale florists, funeral homes, grocery stores, distributors, carriers, farms, etc.), and delivering repurposed bouquets to healthcare facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, dialysis centers, outpatient clinics, etc.) throughout Chicagoland. The successful candidate will be highly responsible, self-motivated, comfortable in a healthcare setting, eager to engage volunteers, and maintain a can-do and positive spirit in a fast-paced environment.


  • Represent RAF on deliveries and floral/vase donation pick-ups, maintaining excellent relationships with floral and recipient partners and volunteers
  • Pack, load, and unload carts with flower bouquets at RAF warehouse and partner healthcare facilities
  • Travel to partner floral providers to pick up donated flowers and vases, and log all donations
  • Communicate effectively with staff, partners, and volunteers
  • Conduct regular vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks


  • Assist as needed with tracking, washing, and organizing vases
  • Assist in special events, warehouse maintenance, and projects as needed


  • 18 years old or older and a High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than one minor moving violation in the past three years, a clean driving record for the past three years is preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred
  • Familiarity and comfort driving in Chicago and surrounding areas
  • Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.


  • Monday: 9am-12pm; Tuesday: 9pm-4pm; Wednesday: 9am-4pm; Thursday: 10am-4pm
  • Due to the nature of our organization, this schedule is subject to change. Some weekends and evenings required.
  • This position is $14 per hour

Random Acts of Flowers (RAF) improves the emotional health and wellbeing of individuals in healthcare facilities by delivering recycled flowers, encouragement and personal moments of kindness. Using flowers as the vessel, our vision is to inspire and nurture a culture of care and compassion. Based in Evanston, RAF Chicago is the fastest-paced and growing branch, partnering regularly with 85 floral businesses,
400 volunteers, and nearly 300 area healthcare facilities.

Through this part-time, unpaid internship (15-20 hours per week) at Random Acts of Flowers, you will gain hands-on experience in all the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a nonprofit while also learning valuable transferable skills for a variety of other career fields. You’ll learn about areas such as: volunteer management, fundraising, marketing, operations, finance, and grant writing.

During this internship, the selected candidate(s) will:

  • Engage in high quality volunteer management, coordinating a variety of volunteer group projects with youth, college, church, corporate, and other groups.
  • Participate in the administration surrounding the daily mission fulfillment.
  • Assist with logistical coordination of floral pickups, volunteer shifts, and floral deliveries.
  • Work with teams to execute special events, such as Flowers After Hours.
  • Assist with financial records, donor communication (including acknowledgments), grant writing, and fundraising.

The ideal candidate(s) will be highly self-motivated, innovative, and possess strong communication skills.

Workshops hours are typically Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, although there are occasionally night and weekend events that might be of interest to the intern. Specific schedule is flexible to the selected candidate(s) availability.
